Odds and Ends: Mac of the Year

One of the most constant complaints that the NBA has had to deal with is the lack of excitement around all-star game weekend. While fans might not be expecting the Vince Carter-esque spectacles of the 90s, it’s safe to say that the dunk contest hasn’t been a particularly entertaining affair. When the most exciting aspect of all-star weekend is Cole Anthony dunking in Timbs, you know that there are problems. Surely, fans were wondering: would this year finally bring an end to the boredom?

Mac McClung says hell yes.

In addition to having one of the greatest first names of all time (I’m unbiased, trust me), McClung has a neat little backstory to go along with his monstrous dunks. Just 5 days ago, McClung was toiling for the 76ers G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Colts. He managed to ink a two-way contract with Philadelphia just 4 days before the dunk contest, and was slotted in as a last-second choice.

It’s safe to say that he was the best choice the NBA could have made.

If there is one link that I will ever implore you to click on this blog, it’s this one. This kid is a beast, and he’s brought glory to Macs everywhere. Wherever you are, Mr. McClung, I salute you. You might be on a two-way deal in the NBA, but you’ve signed a lifetime guaranteed contract in my heart.
